Welcome, Jay. Don't worry about politics on this list. In all the years I have been on it, I can't remember a single political discussion, unless such questions as "Is nymphing really fly fishing?" or "is it a strike indicator really just a bobber" or "If it has a spinning blade attached is it really a fly?" or "Do fish like their Chili Peppers Hot, Medium or Mild?" are political. (The answer to the last question is "Yes".)

Watch out for Don. Believe about half of what he says and none of what his alter egos say, but keep reading, because occasionally he'll dip into his vast fly fishing resources and share, and you don't want to miss that.

Anyway, hang with us, and I think you will like it.

Tom

Since we are "testing" the list, I wanted to take this chance to introduce myself. I switched over here from the fly@ list when I couldn't take any more of the political discussion on that list.

My name is Jay Paulson. I live in Redmond, east of Seattle. I fish around here for trout, steelhead, salmon, bass, etc. I also travel a lot to pursue all species of fish around the world. My last three trips were to the Bahamas for bonefish, Brazil for peacock bass and Argentina for trout and big searun browns. I love to develop new fly patterns, the weirder the better, and get my biggest kick out of catching fish on them. I have a small website where I sell them, but I'm not here to promote that. Just looking forward to fishing and fly talk. (Are there any other west coasters on this list?)

Thanks,
Jay

A strange thing has happened, I have gone an entire day without a single email from the list. I'm sending this to see if something is up with my email account.
