It's a theory that has quite recently proven to be a fact. There are many mysteries in fishing. We're also working on the mystery of false casts. Our newest research says that there isn't such a thing. False is a boolean and therefore if a cast is false, then it won't be a cast. There are only two casts, which really are the same: The true cast and the false false cast (false+false=true). The true false cast equals nothing and so does the false true cast.
