Ummmm   Peggy.......    We have some pretty good sized water snakes here in 
Rhode Island also.    I don't think they're dangerous but they sure are a 
nuisance when fishing.  :)    They like to chase what ever you're reeling in.   
Remind me not to take you to the bass pond next to me.
