I usually end up tying the first fly and think I have a better way to tie it
which i try on the next couple of flies which end up looking horrible, and then
go back to tying them the first way...any that don't pass inspection for my
swap "standard" end up being put in my box for fishing. Lately, and I don't
know why, my first one or two tied usually end up being the best of the bunch.

usually find myself tying 2 dozen flies to get a dozen to send out. Like you
said, just fish the rest.

Subject: [VFB] Bead Head Nymph Fly Swap Flies

Well folks: One good thing about fly swaps.. I started tying my Bead
Head Nymphs for that swap yesterday (and JUST tied my 13th).. But I tried
EIGHT variations before I settled on the one I wanted for the 13. So, that
gives me seven nymphs that WILL catch fish to add to my fly box LOL,. Anybody
else find themselves doing this??? I think it is GREAT, and is one of the main
reasons I enter all the swaps I can.. You learn by trial and error
sometimes..and "spearmentin" as we say in Bama.....Chuck
