I think Phil said it best -- When I said "Golden Badger", I meant the
feather color (I use neck, but most prefer saddle for palmering, mainly for
its length but also for its more uniform barb length from tip to stem of
feather -- well, and other reasons, I'm sure)... anyhow, Golden badger is a
pale ginger/ "golden" color hackle feather with a black "stripe" vertically
(from tip to butt, not side-to-side like grizzly) along (and including) the
stem. Whiting farms has a picture of what they call "badger golden" (I
think this is from their hebert miner line), as seen at
http://www.whitingfarms.com/images/hm_sized/badger_golden.jpg .
Some of the best prices on Whiting hackles are found at Line's End - if
you're looking for some, I can send you a few hackles, but if buying, try
linesend.com first.
Just my 2 cents,
Pete
