Jimmy: This country is having some wild weather this year..I wish we could get just a LITTLE bit of that rain..Today is day 41 without a DROP of rain here, and no rain in the near forecast.. We'd take a cpl-three inches as we are 13+ inches behind yr to date, but we don't need a flood.. Chuck

If you've been keeping up with Texas weather, you know it's a mess. 14" + of rain in the Killeen area about 45 miles SW of me in the last 48 hours. Basically, all of central Texas is under flood warnings. We've had 5" + of rain here at my house since Thursday. Gov. Perry has called out the National Guard in San Antonio, Austin, and Waco because of flooding. Killeen has Fort Hood troops helping them. I'm on high ground as is most of Woodway, TX, where I live, but downtown Waco along the Brazos River is beginning to have problems. The last big flood we had was in Dec-Jan 90, 91, when Lake Waco rose 33 feet. 5 people have already died because of the flooding and one is lost, presumed drowned. So far all of my family is safe. I was planning on taking my bass boat out today and doing some serious bass fishing, now that the lake had settled from the last deluge a couple of weeks ago. But with the continuous rain and runoff, it'll probably be another month before I can get into one of the ramps. Lake Waco has already risen about 3 feet and is expected to rise another 10 + feet in the next two days. All the debris that is washing down from the three rivers that feed the lake makes for very dangerous boating, what with the sunken logs, limbs, etc. some of which will float just under the surface and can rip the lower unit off an outboard.

I'll return with the Quote for the Day and Joke for the Day next Tuesday after Memorial Day.
