"...looking around my fly tying room today amongst the labels for such
things as cock genetic black, hen capes red, artic fox dyed and
partridge breast, are strange names like Lite brite, Holographic Tinsel,
SLF and Crystal Hair- a bit Like 'Star Trek' meets 'Little House on the
Prairie. Many of these materials would at first glance appear to have
more to do with decorating a Christmas tree than tying flies. However,
used sensibly and judiciously, they can be used not only to tie lures
and fancy flies, but also to enhance imitative flies. The real trick in
using them is to make a little go a long way. Their over use in
imitative flies will usually tend to frighten fish."
