Hi Mark,

The Punk Perch is a simple tie, pretty much like a Mohair Leech, except?it uses
Ice Dubbing rather than Angora Goat. (In fact, before I made a page on this
tie, I had it as a variation of the Mohair Leech.) The Punk Perch was in my
Favorite Fly Swap last Winter. http://stevenojai.tripod.com/flyswap5.htm
Tom Loe, Sierra Drifters Guide Service, developed the fly a few years back for
the Sacramento Perch Fry that the trout will be focusing on from the the first
week in August?through October. Take a look at another good pattern, the
Hale-Bop Leech tied in Olive Angora Goat. Often it's tied with a Gold Bead and
a wrap of Red Thread just behind the bead for gills. If you go up to Crowley in
early August, the fry will still be on the small side, sizes 10-12. By Sept,
sizes 8-10 might be a better choice. I'm going up there next week, myself, and
am tying some minature conehead Double Bunnies on a size 8 hook using Olive
Magnum Strips.
Regards, Stevve
