be superbly imitated with a certain kind of lady's silk stocking - I
mean a lady's certain kind of silk stocking - the sort you can't see,
but which looks as if the lady had not washed her legs. It is what my
Pennsylvania Dutch friends call light black, and thinner than an
angler's alibi. We had one; a friend of mine got from a lady who took
it off in a night club and discarded it because it had developed a run.
But we used it up, and as my friend neglected to ask the lady's name,
he can't go back for the other one."
