You don't mention motherboard chipset.  I was having similar problems when
I had a motherboard using the ALi Magik chipset and a WinTV Theater.  I
wasn't able to find any way around it.  I went and got a different
motherboard with AMD chipset and all is well.  Check the Hauppauge page
for chipset compatibility.
