so then once again, I'm not making any progress here. this time, my heroic attempts have been thwarted by the mal (as in NOT) functioning of the bigphysarea patch, I installed it, recompiled my kernel, set the boot param, but it still won't show anything in proc, not to mention the fact that the capture card doesn't work. Besides that, this is what I will usually do modprobe zoran modprobe saa7110 #i'm pretty sure that's the right module xawtv - at which xawtv will die dramatically with an error message complaining either about the lack of buffer space in /dev/video0, not being able to access the device, or the weather. zapping, which I've also tried, does approximately the same.
again, any input would be appreciated marcel Joachim Feise wrote: >Marcel Birthelmer wrote: > >>where exactly ARE the saa* modules (in the kernel config, i mean)? >> > >According to the makefile in th 2.4.17 kernel, the saa7110 module is compiled >with the Miro DC10 modules, the saa7111 module is compiled with the Iomega Buz >module.
