I just installed a Pinnacle Studio PCTV Pro and the picture quality is not very good with my cable-tv feed. Poor color and flicker. Some stations look better than others (but not the quality of the average color TV). Most stations are good quality black and white, except for the annoying flicker.
Iam using bttv-0.7.89, xawtv-3.68, XFree-4.2 and have tried all the card picture adjustments and insmod options with the card detected as #39. I use card #52 or #39 and pll=1 (pll switches off after check) with no difference in picture. The tuner is type=17 Philips NTSC_M (MK2). Does this indicate a faulty card ? Is there some other adjustment i can try?
