I had tried using the 2.4.18 kernel, and my sound went away, so with what I'd learned in fooling with patches (relative newbie here - al least to Linux), I added the patched driver to the SuSE 2.4.10 kernel, and got both camera and sound (I want this for videoconferencing, so both are required). Then when I moved on to the Visor, I found out about the USB problem. This morning I've tried the SuSE 2.4.16 kernel, and it's allowing both camera and sync. Sound fails on boot up with a message about cs461x. Modprobe cs46xx provides sound. So far, I've tested PCM and CD, and tapping on the microphone with the volume up shows it's being picked up too (although I haven't tried recording sound yet - the only app I know of is grecord, and it complains about something else using the sound device). Now I need to determine if cs46xx provides complete sound support, and why the system is trying to load cs461x, and if it's ok to just substitute cs46xx in modules.conf. Any thoughts?
