It feels like a kernel hang. Nothing is responsive, and I don't see
any SEGV's on the console. I don't get any kernel oops in the logs
either, which is disturbing. I started with a Debian distribution, but
have dist-upgraded, and running my own 2.4.18 kernel.

This is also an SMP box on an Abit BP6 motherboard, which is notorious
across the net for hangs, though I haven't seen any that might be related
to this since I stopped using setiathome.
