Bob,

Create an alias like the following, and things should work
fine:
  alias xawtv='cd /usr2/tmp/capture;xawtv '

You can add this to you .bashrc file.

Xawtv writes captured files to your current working
directory.  So you must be starting xawtv while you are
in your home directory.
