I assume that the user knows what device nodes he has on the system, and
where they are. In any case, the standard /dev/video symlink is usually
provided to point to the first video device, since that is the default
for all v4l apps.

But of course if someone does something like this:

$ xawtv -c /tmp

then there is not much I can do about that :-)
