I see, sounds rare, there is a similar effect due to colour 1 ccd cameras, please check page 11 of the following:
http://www.sony.co.jp/~semicon/english/img/sony01/a6802302.pdf This affect appears because of the use of mosaic filters in the ccd. Anyway this doesn't explain why with saa7146 doesn't happen.
