Hi, I'm completely new to v4l but hope to use it for an app that needs low-latency, field rate video capture. (This will probably be with bttv on a bt878, but if you think there's a more appropriate driver/hardware combo please let me know.) If all goes well it should work decently within a matter of weeks and from then on it will be extended and maintained for a few years (tracking state-of-the-art PC hardware).
What do you think would be the right API to choose in this case, v4l or v4l2? The app could of course be ported at some point from v4l to v4l2, but I don't oversee the problems this might present... I'd much appreciate your thoughts on this...
