hi
i have a peculiar requirement for the project. we have a hardware running
linux for which the display monitor is only TV and no other monitors
connected. When started, it will bring up some X applications and there is a
video player as part of the software which plays videos which are formatted
with the yuv data.
now for starting the x applications on TV i am using the XF86_FBDev (with
that one only i can get the display on TV and the x applications are all in
the rgb color space which work fine) but when i run the video player which
actually converts the yuv->rgb in software, the play speed is very slow.
if i use the xv extensions which does the same conversions at the hardware
then the display speed is fast but since the xv extensions support is only
for the "ati" driver and not "fbdev" i cant have the display as TV. is the
"ati" driver or some such extensions being planned so that when i start the
X, i can get the display on TV. i dont want to write all the x-applications
again.
can anyone help me out or give pointers to what i should be doing?
