Ah, now I see. For medical applications you might want to be a little more picky
about the board you use. bt848/bt878 are often used in consumer grade products. Don't
get me wrong -- these chips work great -- but I wouldn't stake anyone's life on that.
As for the API, I think you'll find V4L provides basic initialization of the board and
capture to memory. Any image processing, disk or network I/O, timing or
synchronization -- all that is pretty much up to you.
