It's not xawtv, but the Xvideo driver.  It's <maxwidth>x288.  This way only
one field is required which kills interleave artefacts.  No, there is no way
to turn this off right now.

xawtv linked with -lefence (malloc debugger) + gdb stacktrace would be more
useful.
