[V4L] v4l run away audio

I have 

bttv as released with kernel 2.4.0
STB2 TV tuner
xawtv 3.3.0

I can change/mute the audio with no problem . However, if I exit xawtv with 
the audio on the audio of the last channel tuned to continues to play . It 
will continue to play through a reboot . My only work around is to mute 
before exiting xawtv .
