Hi....

Sorry but I'm a newbie to this list so I'm sorry if this has been covered before,
but.....

I have a p2 400, 192mb ram running i386 rh7 with kernel 2.2.16. Not wanting to get in
to "who's the best window manager" wars, I'm using both Sawfish out the box, but
usually KDE2.1beta2.

Got everything else I want to work running properly with the exception of my dvd movie
playback. I've been having a hunt around freshmeat etc for a definitive guide to
getting this going with no luck - I can't be that unusual having a Hollywood card
married up to a dvd drive, with my graphics output going through firstly an ATI rage
pro 8mb then an old Voodoo 1 (aaaahhhhhh those were the days...) then in to the
Hollywood card.

I've got hugely confused with what I should do (GATOS project etc).

Installed Xine. Sees .vob files on the dvd but just thrashes the disk when trying to
play them with no error messages that I can find. Tried installing LiVid, but the
install for OMI.... "She no work Mr Fawlty" when running the ./bootstrap. But have got
mpeg2dec installed.

<voice type="begging"> Can someone please take me outside and explain it to me like
I'm three years old? </voice type="begging">

Please bear in mind I don't know C at all, although I try to compile from source if
absolutely necessary although don't really understand what's happening..

Regards

Myles
