I mailed the author about the existing project a couple of weeks ago.
Here are some excerpts:

So, the message at present is very much 'watch this space'. On the
other hand, if anyone has anything they can contribute to the project
or can use some sort of advanced diplomatic skill to scrounge some
technical information out of Hauppauge then I'm sure Niels would
love to hear from you.
