Hi,

I'm sure this is a FAQ, but I've had a bit of a hunt and can't find any
info. Any pointers would be most appreciated.

I have a WinTV card with a bt878 and an msp3415d, being used in the UK
(with PAL I). bttv-0.7.64 and kernel 2.2.18.

Everything seems to be working fine, except that in order to get NICAM
stereo I have to fine-tune the channel up by about 10 steps (in xawtv).
This makes the picture quality really bad. Things seem to be normal in
Windows (no fine tuning required).

Looking at the kernel logs after inserting the msp3400 module with debug=1
indicates that the chip has autodetected the right audio format, but then
fails to sync after it's set into the right mode. Any ideas how to fix
this?

[tv tuned in for a good picture]
kernel: msp3410: setting mode: autodetect start (0x0001)
kernel: msp3410: detection still in progress
kernel: msp3410: detection still in progress
kernel: msp3410: current mode: 6.0/6.55  I NICAM FM (0x000a)
kernel: msp3400: NICAM setstereo: 2
kernel: msp34xx: setbass: 32768 0x00
kernel: msp34xx: settreble: 32768 0x00
kernel: msp34xx: setvolume: mute=off 65535:65535  v=0x73 b=0x00
kernel: msp34xx: nicam sync=0, mode=0
kernel: msp34xx: watch: stereo 2 => 1
kernel: msp34xx: watch: nicam 1 => 0
kernel: msp3400: NICAM setstereo: 1

[tv fine tuned up by 10 notches]
kernel: msp3410: setting mode: autodetect start (0x0001)
kernel: msp3410: current mode: 6.0/6.55  I NICAM FM (0x000a)
kernel: msp3400: NICAM setstereo: 2
kernel: msp34xx: setbass: 32768 0x00
kernel: msp34xx: settreble: 32768 0x00
kernel: msp34xx: setvolume: mute=off 65535:65535  v=0x73 b=0x00
kernel: msp34xx: nicam sync=1, mode=8

Cheers!
