properties, and for setting controller properties.

Yes, QT uses layers. Paste a still and 2 bits of video and you can
overlap them by using layers. You can hae a norwegian and an english
soundtrack and on a norwegian system you will hear the norwegian
commentary, on english system the english. you don't have to do
anything more than have multiple language tracks. you can use QT pro
to put a mask over your movie. Set transparencys. Add real time
effects (i mean run time effects such as fire, film grain, etc).

QT pro is *not* just a media playback or compression engine, though
it does these very very well.
