The behaviour still appears to be there, although I have some sucess
in limiting the bitrate, the files are not normally larger than they
should be, smaller if anything.
I was using the export option in quicktime 7 pro. I tried bitrates
such as 512, 800, 1024. For a while there seemed to be a pattern, that
it was producing stuff at about half the expected bitrate (eg
400kbits/ssec when telling it to use 800kbits/sec) but then when I
tried some other footage, that pattern didnt seem to hold.
So I dunno, I guess there is a problem there, but if you really want
to use 3ivx it should be possible to work round this issue.
My testing would have been better if I routinely used 3ivx, but anyway
it hurt my mind so I had to stop lol, I didnt get much closer to
working out what the issue actually was, wasnt sure how well dual-pass
normally clung to the target bitrate.
PS. Im assuming people are taking into account that qt7 uses kbits not
kbytes, so if you are used to picking a number like 60 for bitrate,
try 480 instead (which is 60 * 8, the bytes to bits conversion).
