Well, let's pull the word 'indie' out of all of that. The fact that
independent artists are free to choose how the license their music is
probably the primary factor there. Big artists on big labels rarely have
a say in how their music is licensed.

Yup, this was brought up in podcasting last year as well. You might look
into the licensing needed to use some of the music you want to use. It
may not be outrageously expensive, but that's the price you pay for
playing by their rules.

Hopefully as more artists see the value in CC-type licensing, more
diverse types of artists will start to make their music available for
things like non-commercial podcasts and videoblogs...
