That would be a very weird way to do such a thing. Forget this centralised
service idea - it's dead just like PBS tele-thons are dead.
A central collector is valuable, but let people host and control their own
content. Take advantage of the web. Have people create their blog entries,
have them tag them as 'vlogathon'. Now you have a free collection point at
the Technorati tag page. If you want to go further than that have people
send a trackback ping to vlogathon.org.
The infrastructure for something like this should only take about five
seconds to implement (if you use Technorati) to a day (if you want your
own collection point).
