Most of digital video camcorders have firewire device drivers now adays and work with macintosh without any problem. Which one? Deponds on your budget! 3ccd cameras are quite cheap in Europe and should be also the same in USA, if it's where you live.

It is small and shoots "real" widescreen video (not faking it by
cropping top/bottom).  The only benefit of the 500 is an always-on
light for night shooting.
