keep in mind duncan is interested in experimenting... and is not trying to promote breaking of the standards.

anyways, duncan, you could always make the channel url as http://groups.yahoo.com/group/videoblogging/

no, it is misunderstanding the role of standards. Imagine if I wrote like this:

is role the of misunderstanding it standards of no. all the words are
still there, just doesn't follow the 'standard' that is grammar (and
that is, compared to computers, a very loose standard).

standards are why we have blogs and folksonomies: because the
*community* developed XML as *the* standard and this allowed a ton of
other stuff. if you break the standard, we're back at the tower of
babel, which was the web circa 93-99.

(Or just look at what Microsoft does with mpeg 4 as a 'standard' and
the consequences of that).

In defence of Andreas, he's Scandinavian, this might mean

1. the common good is *very* important
2. individual rights are important but always in the context of the common good
3. standards that are well developed and properly applied are always
better than idiosyncratic and individual action and agreement.

(generalisations yes, but these social democratic countries hit way
above their weight in the open source movement for precisely these
sorts of reasons).
