fundamental questions to me:
* Is market capitalism bad?
* If large chunks of the market either wants something, or seems to
want something, or is seduced to want something, does that mean that
they are just misled fools if what they want or accept to consume is -
'objectivally speaking' - crap? I can name several reality shows as
examples.
* What does it take for the decent vloggers, err people to not only
support something, but also be willing to pay money for that just as
they pay money for other things?
This brings me back to the question of ecologically grown fruit, or
just fruit in general. There was some mainstream moneymaking film
(Michael Moore or something) that pointed this out: Fruit just doesn't
get the publicity, even from the good people. We live in our closed
societies of the enlightened, or we moralize over "pepsi is bad for
you, stop drinking pepsi". Yeah right, that is one sure way to make
the youth eat more apples.
Because the mainstream media far too often is allowed to monopolize
the attention of the eyeballs (apart from campaigns from a small
minority - campaigns that often alienate the larger segments of
society because of "bad apples" - think the violent parts of anti-WTO
demonstrations) we have a situation where the sane voices get drowned
in the voices of the frigging reality shows, bad pepsi ads, and
over-glamoured stars that are kept in cubicles of fame-ness.
Why does rich content so very often get overlooked? Why do we let the
big corporations get away with the hype? We all know the distribution
is very cheap now.
I spoke with a fellow vlogger yesterday and he stated just how much
amazing talent there is in Hollywood. How he has been properly
entertained by Hollywood for years, and how even movies like
'Armageddon' are fair - it is just an action flick and we should treat
it as that. That made me think. Why do so many people support movies
like Armageddon? Also: What kind of movies are made from Hollywood
that just simply loses money? What projects are surely destroying the
bottom line for the conglomerates?
I so absolutely get where Gena is coming from, and also David.
Sometimes we need to fight back. Not just by rejecting the masses of
bad apples in the MSM, but also by creating our own networks.
We should be able to promote pure simple bananas in ads. Not just as a
political statement against all those ads for sugared water or
coloured candy, but as a real honest attempt to get more people to buy
bananas. We all know ads work in Some way, whether we like it or not.
Promote those bananas, guys. We all know banana is good for you.
Best,
Raymond M. Kristiansen
