Check this out!  I got clarification from the 3ivx people about the 
cost of the codec - all it took was an email (go figure).  Basically 
they said:
If you are not purchasing a license as a company or if you are not 
going to use the 3ivx encoded files for professional or direct money 
revenue generating purposes, the Plus license is the one to get.
