None of these examples are directly used to pay *me*.
In one, I use rel="payment" to point to the donation page for a
theater project of the people I interviewed. In the next I used
rel="payment" to point to Amazon.com where you could purchase the CD
for some music that was used in a video (I could have used an
affilliate link too, but didn't). In the third, I posted the recent
NPR audio segment on videoblogging and including a rel="payment" link
to point to the NPR shop so that people might buy something to support
NPR.

Each of these is a valid use of rel="payment", and none of these
examples fit the "tip jar" model. Its not necessarily about making
money for videobloggers... its more about baking in an optional
commerce model into RSS that is not based on micropayments or payment
as a barrier to accessing content.
