The breakthrough features allow for easier development of video in
Flash.  This basically means all the Flash interactivity you've ever
seen, only now inside and around video...  As far as I know the other
formats do not support this interactivity.  Even if they did, the
Flash penetration rate is very close to 100% for web browsers.  Last I
heard QT is less than 30%.

As for "quality video distribution over IP", isn't this just a matter
of compression and file size?  Moving a file over IP is more file size
versus bandwidth.  And "portable video" has become a major focus for
Macromedia, who has already gotten their player some cell phones.
