I take back my previous estimate for my oldest video post. I thought
it had been 2003, but
I just found a short video clip I posted to my website in May 2001.
My wife and I were working on a documentary about Thai boxing for the
National
Geographic Channel and I was experimenting with Real encoding
software in case we
wanted to put short clips from the documentary online. (As it turned
out, the licensing
agreement with Nat Geo prevented us from posting anything online.) So
rather than test it
with an actual clip from the film, I used an outtake: one of our main
characters, Sam, starts
joking around, saying that he wants to pull together some of the Thai
teenagers learning
to box at the Fairtex muay thai camp and make them into a boy band.

(it's kinda funny that I put the video clip in a directory called
"sounds" - I guess I wasn't
thinking very long term about using video at that time.)
Technically, it's not a video blog, since my website wasn't
blog-enabled then, but it still
had the typical reverse chronological feel to it...
