Would be nice, and I imagine we'll see some new software to do these things much easier than typical authoring environments.
I have thought the same. When I ran readthat.com I found the distribution quite tricky – was a pain asking for different formats and an even bigger pain converting them all etc.
When I created my magazine cover today (was really cool little app – you should try it!) …

… I started to wonder whether any of you Flash whizzes would not be able to create a packed app that included the text, audio and any video in the same way. I.e. you point at resources and they are all included the result is a nice flash applet that can run in browser, pda and so on. I have seen the beginnings of this on some podcast sites that play the audio with no download (other than Flash).
In summary is there no-one out there that could create this *just now* and make themselves a few $ in the meantime?

good point.
it'll be a powerful thing. i've always felt that cross-platform compiled multimedia eBooks would one day boom.
going back to 2001, the only solution that i was impressed with was TK3 by Night Kitchen (http://nightkitchen.com).
Their software still has not been updated yet still may be the only multimedia eBook technology that works on both Win and Mac.
Multimedia Acrobat and/or deriviate software would be nice to see on the marketplace. It would be feasible to distribute vlogs within these 'wrappers'.

Well, why do you think Adobe bought Macromedia? :)
It's coming...
