You are welcome to join the group. You do NOT have to be a school teacher or academic to join. I think some of the best things in education happen when people who aren't part of the formal education machine teach kids. In fact, I fit into that category too.
It's nice to be inclusive, at the same time sometimes it makes sense to focus. For example this group we are posting on right now isn't the videoblogging, podcasting, and ham radio group. It's just the videoblogging group. And that's OK. In the same way, there are specific issues when it comes to teaching kids that I think merit a focused discussion on how to best serve them. It might be a good idea to have a more general list for teaching. If that's something you think should exist, go for it, set it up. Meanwhile, you are welcome to sign up for this group I just set up, if you think that makes sense for you.
