this is a little condescending...and it makes me laugh a little more.
is this really your wrap up?
"yes, the laws are made unfairly..but they are the laws...so follow them."
come on.
call me bright eyed...i call you tired and cyncial.

You made some good points...
I agree that people who sell DVD's of the new Batman on the sidewalk 5
days before the movie premiere are thieves. I think its also a sign
that the companies need to change fast becasue they obviously have no
control.

what im interested in is playing with media...and the way it gets distributed.
thats why i love videolblogs. automatically syndicated and arcghived
plus permalinks.
we must have ways to play with the media around us legally.
and like you say..its about doing.

example one:
http://clapyourhandssayyeah.com/shows.php
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/c/clap-your-hands-say-yeah/clap-your-hands-say-yeah.shtml
here's a local Brooklyn band that published and are distributing their
first album.
people could just rip it...instead they buy it...17,000 and counting.
they get the whole 8$ per CD versus the pennies they'd get with a record label.
they also are playing to sold out shows.
listen to one of their songs for free off their site:

example 2:
Brewster Kahle talks about plans to archive TV so people can use it to
comment like we do now with newspapers.
http://ia300114.us.archive.org/0/items/Archiving_television_How_can_we_get_there/Brewster.mp4

How we can get there...

Jay
