The situation is no better in Italy, where the three state TV channels (and their news organizations) are controlled by whoever's in the government, currently Silvio Berlusconi. Italy's 3 major independent TV channels are also owned and controlled by - Silvio Berlusconi. Along with numerous newspapers and magazines.
