It's really a cultural historical event in America. It has a very
large entertainment factor. Sharing deal stories with strangers is
really an amazing phenomenon. Everyone is in a party mood. And when
the doors open, it's every shopper for him or her self. There's no
thrill like the sight of a free 80 GB or 200 GB drive for $30 waiting
for you with open arms in a cart full of more for everyone behind
you. After the prelims with your fellow shoppers, it's a sort of
Parasocial Interaction not unlike television where you have the
illusion of interaction with inanimate objects. (JK)

The grand old USA - where shopping becomes an Olympic sport...

So the pattern, if I understand it correctly, is:

Wednesday stay up all night drinking.
Thursday sleep all morning, then eat all afternoon
Thursday/Friday night stand in lines for hours
So that Friday morning you can crowd into a store with a huge mass of frenzied people
Then stand in line some more to...
Pay for more stuff than anyone actually needs!

Can someone videoblog a rationale as to why this is all a good thing? ; )
