The vlog program at the Film Archives in NYC was really great. It was
interesting that much of the material was new to me. A different person
curates each show. The last show I saw was about 50%
familiar.
What was especially nice was the vlog program was
followed by an hour showing of short films and that was followed by a feature
film. The admission to the vlog show entitled you to stay for the next two
shows as well.
I think I was the only one who chose to stay.
Since the vlog show starts at six, a lot of people plan on having dinner
afterwards. Indeed, hunger sent me out after the shorts
program.
However, the shorts program was just as interesting
as the vlog program. Two of the four films shown had the filmmakers and
others in the audience. The works were actually quite exceptional.
Perhaps, I have more of an interest than others since I want tow ork up to full
length documentaries through vlogging.
Nevertheless, anyone who is thinking of attending
the next vlog show on December 7th (and 14th also) would be well advised to eat
first and hang around for the shorts program.
Twice as many people showed up for the shorts
program as attended the vlog program. I didn't stay for the "feature"
program but there was a long line of people. Apparently, the popularity
increases as the length of the program increases. I wasn't into "murder
mysteries" so I opted to go eat instead.
Just keep this in mind. It makes going to the
vlog programs put on by Node 101 an entire evening of entertainment if you
choose to turn it into that...and all for one small admission.
