No there doesn't. You don't always have to "follow the money." Some 
people do things out of love, or for other reasons that compel them.

I make software, and audio, and video available without any sort of 
"economic game plan" just like many people on this list do. Why? Because 
I can't *not* do so...

In fact, you sort of answered your own question:
