Me, I can't afford no stinkin' iPod, so I'm more interested in the more affordable devices. I picked up an iRiver audio player last year for this reason, and I'm so glad I made that choice. The iRiver has so many more of the features it turned out I wanted (though I didn't know it at the time). We have an iPod Shuffle now, too, but you wouldn't believe how much trouble I've had with it hanging both the PC and the Mac in my home.
Since I'm travelling through iRiver forums now (such as Mistic River at http://www.misticriver.net/ which is comparable to iPod-enthusiast forums), I've been hearing a great deal about iRiver portable media (video and audio) players over the past year. There's been a lot of hoopla about some of these devices, but iRiver doesn't have nearly the marketing muscle Apple has, so we don't hear about them.

There is more than Apple. Much more. I believe that video creators,
consumers, and participants should have choices. Let there be more
content, more creators, more devices, more software, more
marketplaces, more business models, and more ways to experience and
interact with media.
