Hi Peter, thanks for your feedback.

any real value in letting discovering people cool stuff.

If you visit the strmz.com site you’ll see that we actually cast a pretty broad net and offer a wide range of Internet TV/video channels - the emphasis being on quality programming.  With the incredible amount of video released online in recent months, there’s lots to discover without wading through some of the drivel that’s out there.  Our mission is to help our users quickly find great video programming with a comprehensive program guide designed for efficient channel-surfing and clip-sharing.

The only way to add value as a mash-up service or aggregator is to show people
obscure, unknown or unpopular stuff that is good, that you have
discovered.

In fact, much of the stuff produced by the ‘major media outlets’ is actually quite obscure, unknown, and not-yet-popular.  Most people have access to only 3-4% of the 31 million hours of programming the TV industry produces each year – and are actually able to watch much less.  AOL and the major portals are building sophisticated video search query tools to mine their content – though much still lies buried in their vast libraries.  Strmz.com is creating a collaborative program guide to help surface some of the jewels.  We believe some will surface as ‘popular’ and ‘top-rated’ consumer-generated media -- and many lie deep in the vaults of the world’s major media companies.  At Strmz.com, wikis, blogs, playlists, and tags will provide your context for their discovery.

> Just a tip :) Don't focus on the popular or you're competing with AOL
video on *their* terms. Better to compete with them by offering us
something different.

For a limited number of beta program participants, create an automated or hand-picked video playlist on Strmz.com and publish it as HTML to your blog/website.  Send an email for details.

Regards,

James

Nothing against mashup services, and I hope this one has a great
future, but I see a problem:

- "major media outlets"
- "popular videoblogs"
- "top-rated content"

If you focus on "major", "popular" and "top-rated", you will not add
any real value in letting discovering people cool stuff. The only way
to add value as a mash-up service or aggregator is to show people

Just a tip :) Don't focus on the popular or you're competing with AOL
