First off: Blip.tv and similar services are free as in beer, not speech.
But that is not the real problem here - as Josh points out you can just
buy your own hosting if you don't like how blip.tv is being run.

The real issue is much more serious than you being "censored". Not having
seen the video I'll have to guess to the contents, but from your e-mail I
get the impression that you're framing this situation as an "us versus
them" scenario. If that's the case we have already lost and the situation
can only escalate.

> Didn't you see the "cartoons" that they had of the Danish Ambassador
> with his head cut off and a big sword stuffed down his throat on CNN.
> That is acceptable but objecting to having someone's head cut off is
> not???

There is a world of difference between the current climate and mindset in
Denmark and the Middle East. As I look out my window I see no angry mobs
running around torching things. Obviously publishing the above cartoon did
not result in any reactions from the Danish population, republishing the
Danish cartoons in a major American newspaper/network probably would have
resulted in strong reactions in the Middle East.

Freedom to publish also includes the freedom not to publish. The Danish
cartoons have been available online since the original publication in
September if you're that hot on seeing them. As the article put it the
story could be told just fine without showing the cartoons.

> So, alternative media is really just a sham??? You can be alternative
> just as long as you don't really show something disturbing or raise
> important contemporary political questions.

Perhaps you should get off your high horse.
Perhaps you should look beyond the tip of your own nose.

Yesterday the Danish, Swedish and Norwegian embassies in Damaskus were set
in fire. Police had to use warning shots and tear gas against 15,000
demonstrators outside the Danish Consulate in Beirut.

Perhaps this is not the time to escalate the situation.
Perhaps you should take a step back and think about what consequences
posting your video will have.
Perhaps it's not about you, but the world.
Perhaps it's better to resolve the situation with angry mobs running
around, and not incite further rage at this point.
Perhaps I should hold you personally responsible if your video makes it's
online and results in killings of Danish citizens.

Freedom to publish includes the right to do really fucking dumb things. I
have a feeling your video is a really fucking dumb thing to post. Since
you seem more interested in furthering your own image as a provocateur,
than thinking about the consequences of posting said video I commend
Blip.tv and YouTube for doing the thinking for you.

Perhaps there was a really fucking good reason not to post that video at
this point in time.
