The problem with Microsoft Movie Maker is it's inability to export to
anything but wmv which can really hurt viewership. I've tried lots of
free video editing programs and AVID's FreeDV is def the best. You
also might want to check out Wax [http://www.debugmode.com/wax/].

Now if you're running linux KinoDV [http://www.kinodv.org/] is a
pretty sweet and easy to use DV editing package. Cinelerra
[http://heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra.php3] is a very powerful video
editing solution but also pretty confusing for a novice.

In the end we just got a PowerMac G5 and Production Suite (with our
student discount of course :o) ). It's easy to use, it's reliable,
it's powerful, and looks really good on a desk.
