I read that review and all of the complaints seem like they could be said about my camera - Xacti C5 except that I think the image stabilization is great and the OLED screen is way better than the LCD screen on my DV cam.

This has been my experience. If you use the camera in good lighting and practice with the manual focus, you can get results that look pretty darn good. Not as good as DV but good. In very low light it's completely useless.
The review complains about 1hr battery life. That's what my camera gets - it's a microscopic battery though. I bought a second one so I can shoot for 2 hours before recharging. This hasn't been an issue in the 6 months I've had my camera.

The data rate of this new camera is about 3X that of mine and so is the frame size. So I'm expecting that it will have similar video quality - just bigger.

In my opinion the BIG advantage of any mpeg4/digital still camera/etc is their small size. That small Sony HD camera looks nice but it's nearly the size of my digital 8. It's small but not fit-in-your-pocket small. That's the whole reason to buy one of these camera. You'll take places that you wouldn't lug a regular camera around. This is like carrying around a cell phone.

One other flaw in my camera that's annoying but not unworkable is that the audio and video are always off by 5 frames. It's an easy fix to move the audio forward 5 frames but it would be awesome if I didn't have to do that.
