1. What is the Portable Cinema series?
A series of film programs curated by Maïa Cybelle Carpenter for the iPod video. Available only on http://www.mccarpenter.net

2. What is an iPod video? How do I make an iPod video? How do I playback iPod videos?
The iPod video is a portable music/video player made by Apple. Save your motion images, videos and films to a digital video format. Then compress to Apple's iPod video format specifications. It's easy to playback iPod videos. Simply download into iTunes application then upload onto your iPod video. You can also look at this helpful DIY iPod video site.

3. How do I submit work to the Portable Cinema Series?
Send a detailed description/proposal to [EMAIL PROTECTED]. Do not send any attachments; text must be in the body of the email. You will be contacted within one month. If your proposal is taken into consideration you will be sent a link to upload your iPod video to a non-public area of the site. Final notification will come shortly thereafter with a confirmation form to be signed and returned to the curator, Maïa Cybelle Carpenter.

4. What kind of work can I submit to the Portable Cinema Series? Can I submit work that is not specifically made for the iPod video?
Any kind of motion images generated by any source materials made specifically for the small screen. The small screen includes pdas, mobile phones, quicktime and other web formats. Traditional videos, films, animation, videos made by mobile devices are all eligible. The Portable Cinema series is specifically looking for innovative, genre-bending and experimental works.

5. How long does my work have to be? Can it be silent?
A maximum of 10 minutes including credits. 3 minutes in length and under are preferred. Your work can be either silent or with sound.

6. Does my work have to be origintal content made for the Portable Cinema series or can it have been created for other exhibitions?
Your piece doesn't have to be made specifically for Portable Cinema series, but we would love it if you made original content. Please do not submit proposals for a video intended for theatrical exhibition. The works shown in Portable Cinema series are created for the small, portable and personal screen.

7. Where will my work be exhibited?
Your work will be downloadable as an iPod video only from http://www.mccarpenter.net

8. Will I get a rental fee or royalties?
No.

9. Do I retain the rights to my work once it's accepted to the Portable Cinema series? What if my work is already distributed?
Yes, all artists retain rights to their video. Portable Cinema programs are non-exclusive, free, public exhibitions.

10. Do I need the rights to the music and images used in my work if it is exhibited in the Portable Cinema series?
Artists must guarantee having the rights to all audio and images in their works. Artists are responsible for obtaining these rights and Maïa Cybelle Carpenter http://www.mccarpenter.net is not responsible for unsecured rights.

11. How long will my work be available online in the Portable Cinema series?
Maïa Cybelle Carpenter is granted a non-exclusive 4 year license to screen work(s) online for promotional, archival and other non-commercial uses. All artists retain their own copyrights.
