John,

First, I want to thank you very much for your response.

This is, in fact, a good guide and relatively simple for a "power user" like myself.  There are some other troubleshooting guides (from MM employees...) on the MM forum that I would recommend because of the regedit steps.

The admin permissions issues seem to take place on corporate networks.  That is not the case here.

I am getting hard evidence that visitors to my site are:
1. not willing to leave it for another site for an update
2. not bothering to read directions... if they can't see the movies, they move on
3. updating, but the update does not take and they get very confused looking for a program rather than a plugin
4. confused by the complexity of the Adobe Flash upgrade site and cannot find the directions on the overly busy sitge and do not scroll down far enough.
I know that there are issues with permissions and root admin access, but that is, I believe, the case with networks and companies.  My visitors do not, for the most part, go to the site from networks.  I know this is an issue with the Express Install.

Okay.  I'm familiar with these figures and have even linked to some of them just to reassure people that I am not too far out there with Flash 8.  But this is where it gets interesting.  As the market saturates, you start picking up more of the "civilians" and newbies rather than the early adopters who are already there and can deal with problems and, in fact, expect them.  Now we are picking up people who are easily confused and, having just gotten somewhat comfortable with email, do not want to be bothered learning how to install new software.  These "holdouts" are the toughest cases.  And that's what I am getting.

You may dispute the logic, but I am getting the anecdotal evidence and see the system stats.  And on the forum that I visit on the MM site, I am finding that lots of developers are having this problem.

The major problem I know of with Express Install is the admin permissions on networks.

If you like, I could give you many links, but the preferred site  seems to be:
http://blog.deconcept.com/flashobject/

My biggest problem right now is: I have Flash 8 .swf videos on a TypePad blog. I know that Expess Install may very well solve my visitors' update problems.  BUT I have no idea in the world how to implement the FlashObject code into my blogs or videos. I can't understand the language.  I feel as if I am crashing the party. I need some step by step instructions and cannot find them.

I am an experienced and established film maker.  I want to put videos on the internet through Flash 8.

Where do I go from here?

If you would like to see one of my sites,  pleaes visit http://hestablog.com

Feel free to email me.

Oh.  I also get the feeling that Adobe is treading water right now over MS next move with Active-X because of the Eolas case. And Flash Player 8.5 is coming out.

Thanks again, and I hope you can give me a hand.
